“Polkas on 45” by Weird Al Yankovic
Did you ever wonder what Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, and The Doors would sound like on accordion? Well wonder no more!
Try to feel sad when there is a Polka playing – and not just a plain ole Polka – but a Polka by Weird Al.
This contains Lawrence Welk style music, Yodeling and Classic Rock all in one song. And the fast pace of this song also contributes to the magic.
You’re right – it’s hard to be sad when you hear a polka. I grew up in a polka family and I still listen to them occasionally.
However, I’m going to go with “Rio” from Duran Duran. And did I miss something, or was that not on the 1983 Top 100 list? It should have been…and it should have been in my Top Ten as well.

I didn’t see Rio in any of the top 100 lists. That’s odd. I thought it was a hit. I like that song alot. I checked 1982, 1983, and 1984 just to cover everything. My article is https://returntothe80s.wordpress.com/2011/02/18/hits-of-1983-horrible-and-great/ It looks like you had “Heart To Heart,” by Kenny Loggins. Hungry Like the Wolf was on there too.
