Daily Trivia – 10/19/11

Question: What movie opened with the Yogi Berra quote: “In baseball, you don’t know nothing”?

Last Question: What sitcom did James Burrows, Glen Charles and Les Charles leave in 1981, to start up Cheers?

Answer: Taxi

Needless to say, Cheers was a great show, and had a great cast. But Taxi was not too shabby itself. It had a great cast with Judd Hirsch, Danny DeVito, Marilu Henner, Tony Danza, Christopher Lloyd, Jeff Conaway, and Andy Kaufman. The show ran from 1978 to 1982 on ABC and from 1982 to 1983 on NBC, and won many awards. There were a couple of stars of Cheers that also appeared in Taxi. Rhea Pearlman, who played Carla in Cheers, played the recurring character, Zena – Louie’s (Danny DeVito) girlfriend.

In one episode, Ted Danson played an arrogant hairstylist who gives Elaine (Marilu Henner) a horrible makeover just before a very important event. And as luck would have it, the episode is on YouTube. In a subplot of the episode, Christopher Lloyd’s Jim is introduced to the new arcade game, Pac-Man, and then becomes addicted.

Here is the episode called “The Unkindest Cut”:

  1. Loved Pac-Man and Taxi, so this was a double treat. Thanks!

I should say I loved the *early* Taxi. Latka was a great addition, but they really jumped the shark with him. I REALLY loved the music.
