“I Remember Holding You” by Boys Club
Boys Club was the duo of Gene Hunt and Joe Pasquale from Minneapolis, Minnesota. They both have stated that George Michael was a major influence on each of them – and it shows. Their sound made them regarded as “Minnesota’s version of WHAM!.”
Before Boys Club, Gene Hunt was a member of the family group, The Jets.
Boys Club was the first group to appear on the New Mickey Mouse Club as a musical guest during the first episode.
But, the duo only had one hit song, “I Remember Holding You”, which peaked all the way at #8 on January 14, 1989. Here is their hit:

OYNIRTS!
Yeah, I can hear the Wham influence for sure…even that sax has some definite Careless Whisper-ishness to it.
The first thing I thought when I heard this was how much this sounds like “Careless Whisper”. I didn’t remember this song at all. I kind of like it.
