Daily Trivia – 5/2/12

Question: Who asked her sisters Irlene and Louise to share hosting duties on a 1980 variety show?

Last Question: What sitcom starred an 11-year old robot named Vicki, short for “Voice Input Child Identicant”?

Answer: Small Wonder

Before the Kardashians, there was another television show about a female robot manufactured by a parent.
Small Wonder was a sitcom that ran from September 7, 1985 to May 20, 1989. It was about a robotics engineer who, after he secretly creates a robot modeled after a real human girl, tries to pass it off as their daughter.
V.I.C.I. (“Voice Input Child Identicant” or Vickie) was an android in the form of a 10-year-old girl, built by Ted Lawson. She had superhuman strength and speed. The Lawson family tried to keep the robot’s existence a secret, but their annoying neighbors, the Brindles, would pop upat the most unexpected moments ā€” especially nosy next-door neighbor Harriet who’s dad just happens to be Ted Lawson’s co-worker.

Here is the opening theme of the show:

  1. Answer: Barbara Mandrell.
I used to watch that show, too.
Never saw Small Wonder, though. Love your “Before the Kardashians…” line!

  2. You got it! I used to watch that Barbara Mandrell show too. I was young but I had a little crush on her. I never saw that Small Wonder show either. I was surprised to find out that it was on for as long as it was too. But, I probably would have liked it better than any of those Kardashian shows! šŸ™‚
