I can’t explain what I’m going through
Wish I could find the right words to say
Losing control and its over you
Nobody else could make me feel this way
I can’t explain what I’m going through
Wish I could find the right words to say
Losing control and its over you
Nobody else could make me feel this way
Last Song: “Just Like Paradise” by David Lee Roth who celebrated his 52nd birthday yesterday.
Hi Everybody, I just wanted to take a moment to let you know that I have started an additional blog, which is non-80s related. I decided to write about life in Bristol, Rhode Island, so I gave it the clever name Life in Bristol. I will write about Bristol’s intersting history, and discover some shops, restaurants and attractions with my own personal touch.
I will continue to work on this blog as well, so Return to the ’80s will remain alive.
Question: What slogan did Oldsmobile launch in 1988, with ads featuring Ringo Starr and his daughter?
Last Question: What was the name of the learning system could play games, sing, and be used as a tape recorder?
Answer: Electronic Talk ‘n’ Play
Way, way before the iPad, our combination of high tech educational and childhood entertainment came in the form of Electronic Talk ‘n’ Play. You would pop a cassette in the machine, and it would read to you. It would also ask questions that you would answer by pressing one of the brightly colored buttons. Most of the books/cassettes were related to Sesame Street, the Muppets, and Fraggle Rock, as well as some Disney.
Or you could be a rebel, and throw an AC/DC or Metallica cassette in, and enjoy!
Here is a series of ’80s commercials. The one for the Talk ‘n’ Play begins at 4:31. This is the only video I could find about Electronic Talk ‘n’ Play on the web. But, you may have fun remembering some of these other commercials too:

Last Question: How many times has Reg, from The Great Outdoors, get struck by lightning?
Answer: 67
Bartender: He’s been struck by lightning… how many times has it been now, Reg?
Reg: S-s-s-s-s-s-s-six…
Chet: Six times?
Reg: S-s-s-six-six-six-six-six-six-sixty-sixty-six times. In-n-n-n-n-n-n-In-n-n-n-n-n-n-In-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n the head!
Chet: Sixty six times? God, that’s gotta hurt.
But, this was a trick question as he was struck once again during the thunderstorm towards the end of the movie.
