The 80’s songs do have a distinct sound, don’t they?

Yes they do! I love it! I think each decade has it’s own distinct sound, up until the 2000’s.
for example. the 40’s and earlier had the Big Band music, the 50’s had the birth of Rock ‘n Roll. The 60’s were influenced by whatever the Beatles were doing. Early on it was rock/pop rock, then by the late 60’s it was more psychedelic rock. Then the 70’s had disco, as well as it’s own rock sound. The 80s had synth-pop music as well as hair bands. And the 90’s had grunge. I don’t know that the past decade has had it’s own sound. American Idol maybe?
