This is a different type of post for me. This is something I would normally just share on Facebook. But I thought it would be fun to show here. I got this from Martha Quinn.
Desert island playlist pick! If you were to pick one SiriusXM Big 80s on 8 countdown, would it be 1980 or 1988??
Tough decision for me, but I’d have to go with ’88, my high school graduation year. Please don’t be shy! Leave a comment with your choice.

Uhm…. I think I like the ones in 1980. It has more checks ( meaning like ) than the list in 1988.

Nice! You can’t go wrong with either one.

While there are some weak songs like “Don’t Worry Be Happy” and anything by New Kids on the Block, the 1988 list is far superior. It was my first year of college and I was still riding high in the glory of 80s rock. I do think this is the beginning of the end of the true 80s, but there are some great songs: Def Leppard, Poison, and one of the final appearances of one of my all time favorites REO Speedwagon.

Awesome! I think we’re the same age. This was also my first year at an attempt at college. Epic fail. Then off to the ind Your Own Way Home. I love “I Needed to Fall” and “Another Lifetime” from that album.

I can’t go with something that begins with “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” and ends with “Kokomo”.

I laughed at that…even though I kinda like both songs.
I can’t go with “Wild Wild West” or “Red Red Wine,” so I’m joining Rick in taking the surprisingly underwhelming 1980 list. There are only about six songs I really like on there, but none that I can’t stand.

I like your thinking, Jim! I know that I just told Rick that my least favorite songs of the ’80s were “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” and “Sledgehammer”. But, I totally forgot about “Red Red Wine”! Maybe it’s a 3-way tie. I must have skipped over that one when I was looking over the lists. But, there’s too much Diana Ross on the 1980 list for me.

I love it!! I don’t mind Kokomo too much, But “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” is one of my least favorite songs of the ’80s right along with “Sledgehammer”.
