The Breakfast Club remake is in the works

Well Hollyweird is at it again! They are going to destroy yet another one of our movies. They had to mess with Red Dawn, The Karate Kid, RoboCop, Annie, and the upcoming Ghostbusters. Now, these unoriginal people are going to remake one of our most beloved ’80s films – The Breakfast Club.

A spokesman for Universal Pictures announced that the film will open on March 24, 2016 for a four-day opening weekend. This remake will be written and directed by Judd Apatow. Apatow, who was executive producer of the critically praised, award-winning series Freaks and Geeks, made the following statement: “The Breakfast Club was very influential in my film making career. The characters and storyline leave some great groundwork. We are going to bring this classic to the modern day.”

The cast for this remake is as follows:

  • Taylor Swift (Valentine’s Day) as Claire Standish, the princess, originally portrayed by Molly Ringwald
  • Zac Efron (High School Musical) as Andrew “Andy” Clark, the athlete, originally portrayed by Emilio Estevez
  • Justin Bieber (Behaving Badly) as John Bender, the criminal, originally portrayed by Judd Nelson
  • Jaden Smith (The Pursuit of Happyness) as Brian Ralph Johnson, the brain, originally portrayed by Anthony Michael Hall
  • Kristen Stewart (Twilight) as Allison Reynolds, the basket case, originally portrayed by Ally Sheedy.

A couple of popular side characters have also been cast:
Shia Labeouf (Transformers) will play Carl the janitor and James Franco (The Interview) will play assistant
principal Dick Vernon.

Taylor Swift said, “I am super excited for this opportunity to play Claire. And I am even more excited that I will also be contributing some sick beats in support of this movie!”
These “sick beats” she is referring to is the new Breakfast Club Soundtrack. Taylor will be performing 5 songs on the soundtrack, including a duet with Kanye West on a remake of “Don’t You (Forget About Me)”. The soundtrack will also include songs from Pharrell Williams, Sam Smith, One Direction, Rihanna, and Meghan Trainor.

Ugh! This whole thing is just a horrible idea! What’s next? A Back to the Future remake?!? A Goonies reboot?!? Another Ghostbusters remake – this time with a male cast!?! oh wait.

Well, what do you think? Are these remakes out of control? Or do you think these movies are a great homage to our generation of movies?

    1. Now that April Fool’s Day is over, I should probably come clean, and say that this was totally made up out of my warped mind. I just hope I didn’t give anybody from Hollywood any ideas! 🙂
      And I agree with you about Red Dawn. However, I did notice that the new RoboCop was free on Amazon Prime. Unfortunately, for some weird reason, I felt the need to check it out. Same thing as Red Dawn. It feels like it should have been good. But, there was no heart. I’m dreading the new Poltergeist movie coming out. Everything is too dark today. They should stay away from our movies until they are ready to have fun again.

        1. Defintely! It’s so out of control.
          Last April Fools, I revamped the site so that it was still Return to the ’80s – however it was the 1880’s. I didn’t have time to do something like that this year. So I went with a quick, plausible prank. Plus, I got a little frustration out with all these stupid remakes/reboots they’re doing lately.

            1. Awww, thanks so much!! I wanted to have current people who I can’t stand, but yet would be plausible to be in the remake.
              I normally hate April Fool’s pranks, but it was really fun to try to be creative, and do something outside my comfort zone.

      2. Although, I do have an idea for a Breakfast Club remake, and I do plan to pay a lot of homages to the original film. I made my own script featuring new ideas, and tributes to the original film as well. I even kept a few of the best scenes from the film with some minor changes!

        1. Definitely! I normally hate April Fool’s pranks, but this was a fun and creative way for me to get my frustration out about all the 80s remakes that ARE being made. If any of them would be an improvement, that would be one thing. But, they all fall way short.

  6. Thanks! This was my attempt at April Fools Day humor. Last year, I totally revamped the site so that it was for the 1880’s instead of the 1980’s. I didn’t have time to do anything like that this year. I tried to make this article somewhat believable with actors that people would hate in general, nevermind starring in a remake of a sacred ’80s movie.
    I could definitely see Holly wood taking this movie, and try remaking it. It wouldn’t be pretty!

    1. If there was a remake, which I wouldn’t want, that’s a great idea! But let each of their kids to be a different group. Like have Bender’s kid be a geek, and have Brian’s kid be a jock, etc…

  12. Well I think it would be great, a remake with the same cast. I mean what ever you think would be good roles for them in life, outside of high school. But keep the same page rolling if your going to make a remake. Don’t make a sequel with new characters to a great movie. If you 2 make a sequel hell yeah, but give credit were credit is due. Don’t fuck with a great movie, especially this one. If the original cast ain’t all down with it. Don’t fuck with a good movie. That’s just my opinion, don’t make remakes make sequels/reunion because no one can do it like they did I don’t give a fuck who Hollywood has got. They have already fucked with so many good movies. In my opinion they destroyed footloose and Ghostbusters. Please Hollywood do us all a favor and leave these good movies alone. Don’t ever think about a remake for dased and confused,fast times or back to the future. Because you ruin everything else. Don’t ruin good movies. All I’m saying is, if your going to make a remake or a sequel, put the original cast or don’t fuck with it.

    1. Amen! I totally agree! I think the problem is that if the studios want a quick cash grab, they remake a movie for its name recognition, which is unfair to us fans. I still haven’t seen the Footloose remake. As far as Ghostbusters is concerned, I think it would have worked better if it was a continuation of the original, and pass the torch to the next generation. It sucks that the original cast members were in the new movie with different roles. Although, Dan Akroyd’s part was actually the only time I laughed in that movie. They could have done something great by having the original characters in the movie, much like the new Star Wars movies.
      And I have also seen the remakes of RoboCop and Red Dawn. It doesn’t matter how much better the technology is these days. These new movies have no soul. Horrible.
