Daily Trivia – 3/11/11

Question: On Miami Vice, what pop singer played “Crockett’s” wife from 1987 to 1988?

Last Question: Can you name the two 1987 movies that starred future governors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura?

Answer: Predator and Running Man

Jesse Ventura has had anything but a boring life. He was part of an Underwater Demolition Team in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a bodyguard for The Rolling Stones for a short time. Then he went into professional wrestling and had a successful career. He had to stop wrestling in 1984 due to blood clots in his lungs, which he believed were a result of his exposure to Agent Orange during his time in Vietnam.
He became a wrestling announcer after that, and he was very entertaining.
In 1990, Ventura took advice from a former high school teacher and ran for mayor of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota in 1990. He defeated the city’s 25-year incumbent mayor and served from 1991 to 1995.

In 1998, Ventura ran for governor of Minnesota as an independent and won. He only stayed for one term because of the media’s affect on his family.

Currently, Ventura and his wife live in Mexico, “There are no newspapers down where I live. Where I live, I’m an hour from pavement and an hour from electricity..I’m completely off the grid.”

Ventura costarred in two Arnold Schwarzenegger movies in 1987 – Predator (released June 12), and The Running Man (released November 13).

In 2003, California had a recall election which resulted in Governor Gray Davis being removed from office. There were many people that were in the running to replace him – including several celebrities. Arnold Schwarzenegger won the election. In 2006, he ran for re-election. Despite a poor year nationally for the Republican party, Schwarzenegger won re-election with 56.0% of the vote. Due to term limits, Schwarzenegger is no longer governor.

According to a web site called The Arnold Fans, Schwarzenegger revealed that he was being courted for more than fifteen films, including sequels to The Terminator, remakes of Predator and The Running Man, and a film about a comic book character that he will announce in late March or early April.
