One Hit Wonders of the ’80s: 1988 – Giant Steps

“Another Lover” by Giant Steps

Giant Steps was a dance pop duo from England. They only released one album – 1988’s Book of Pride. The single from that album, “Another Lover” became a big hit for them, peaking at #13 on November 12, 1988. The song was also featured in the 1989 Patrick Dempsey movie, Loverboy. Giant Steps followed up with one more song – “Into You“, which was not nearly as successful.

Since they did not have Another hit, let’s Return to 1988, and listen to Giant Steps’ “Another Lover”:

  1. OYNIRTS!
That’s my new abbreviation so I don’t have to keep typing, “Oh yeah, NOW I remember that song!”

Love the Night Tracks intro to the song. I miss all those video shows…and good music on TV…

  2. I love the abbreviation! Maybe it will catch on! I think you’ll be saying it again later today.
I loved the Night Tracks intro to this song. I laughed at the irony when they introduce the song saying, “With a name like Giant Steps, it’s no wonder their career is doing just that.” I like this song though. Definitely a late ’80s/early’90s feel to it.
