This song is the opening track on the album, and was the third single released. It peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart and number 14 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Stevie Ray Vaughan played guitar on this track.

Bowie said this song’s call-and-response vocal arrangement “all comes from Little Richard.” A defining moment in Bowie’s childhood was when his dad came home with a copy of “Tutti Frutti.”
